Quality fire investigators require quality training and “boots on the ground” experience. At Advanced Fire Forensics, our investigators have received extensive training through the National Association of Fire Investigators and hold the following designations:

  • Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI)
  • Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI)
  • Certified Fire Investigation Instructor (CFII)
  • Canadian Certified Fire Investigator – Level C (CCFI-C)

In addition to the above noted qualifications, Kurt Gagain CFEI, CVFI, CFII, CCFI-C (Principal & Lead Investigator) also holds the internationally recognized NFPA 1033 ProBoard Certification.  In November 2016, Mr. Gagain was elected to serve as the Regional Director – Northern Canada for the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators.

Who understands fire better than Firefighters? Along with extensive fire investigation training, we also bring over 20 years of active fire suppression experience to every investigation. Having the ability to clearly understand and interpret fire ground suppression tactics provides an invaluable insight into how the fire event actually unfolded.
